BRIEF PAPERWORK
To better understand your health history and current issues, we’ll need you to complete some paperwork. Please plan to come in about 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment time.
CONSULTATION AND EXAMINATION
Our first goal is to put you at ease! The doctor will meet with you to discuss your concerns and the issues which brought you to our office. In order to determine what your actual problem is, the doctor will ask you various questions related to your condition and your health history. We will then perform a physical examination related to your complaints. These may include orthopedic, neurological, nutritional and chiropractic tests, as well as general physical examination techniques. This will help us arrive at an accurate diagnosis.
X-RAY STUDIES
Current research reveals that x-rays are not routinely required. However, the doctor will determine whether x-rays are appropriate based on your history and physical examination findings.
TREATMENT RECOMMENDATIONS
Once we have established a working diagnosis, we’ll discuss it with you, including your other treatment options. If we think we can help you, we’ll tell you how, which may include spinal manipulations, physiotherapy, soft tissue techniques, exercises, or other conservative treatments. If it looks like you’d be better served by a different kind of provider, we’ll tell you and help you find the right one.
We will provide you with appropriate initial treatment on your first visit.
CARE OUTSIDE THE OFFICE
We will help you to help yourself by providing you with recommendations for home care. This might include whether to use ice or heat, stretches or exercises, and instructions regarding work restrictions and activities to avoid which might aggravate your condition.
FOLLOW UP CARE
Generally, patients are scheduled for a follow-up visit within a day or two to assess response to the initial care, review our findings and discuss treatment options and an appropriate plan of care. Treatment recommendations are based on history, clinical findings, our experience, and the best available scientific evidence. As always, if we think we can help, we’ll tell you. If we don’t think we can help, we’ll do our best to help you find someone who can!
